The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is the oldest union representing Electrical Workers in the United States, having been founded over 110 years ago. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) represents approximately 750,000 active members and retirees who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. The IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada and stands out among the American unions in the AFL-CIO because it is among the largest and has members in so many skilled occupations. In New Mexico, the IBEW Local 611 covers Inside Construction, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Outside Construction, Technical, Telephone, and Utility Bargaining Units. Members of, retirees from, and the family and household members of IBEW Local 611 are eligible and welcome to join Southwest Federal Credit Union. As a co-operative financial institution which advocates for its members, SFCU has much in common with the mission of the Union.
